Fortin Trio Update: 28 Weeks

I am 28 weeks 3 days pregnant with my little angels. We hit a huge milestone at 28 weeks! When we were in the hospital last week they told us our new goal first goal was 28 weeks. Woot woot. We made it!! We continue to take it one day at a time, but our next goal is 32 weeks!!

Last Sunday, I found myself in the hospital yet again. I had had some mucus discharge and my Doctor wanted me to come in to make sure all was okay. Fortunately, all was okay. The babies were monitored and all heartbeats we looking strong. And although I am still experiencing contractions, my cervix is stable at a 1.4. We also got to see the babies in an ultrasound.  Our Doctor could tell through the ultrasound that the babies are trying to learn to breathe on their own which is amazing. So thankful we had the steroid shots last week. Woohoo for lung development.

Bed rest is not easy, glamorous, or fun. It is one of the most difficult and humbling experiences of my life. I can only get up to use the bathroom or shower. Ryan and Mom shave my legs. Showering feels like a special excursion, but as nice as it is to have the warm water fall over my body, it is a lot on me too, so it’s usually quick. I will do whatever I need to do for these babies and will do my best to soak in this time with a smile on my face even with my raging hormones and giant belly. I have been incredibly blessed to have some dear friends come visit me too, which is food for my soul! And I started season one of Grey’s Anatomy, which is an amazing time sucker–especially since there are 11 seasons on Netflix!!

I was so fortunate to receive the sweetest surprise from my college roomie, Lisa, and her hubby! They made a surprise visit and brought me my favorite, FRO YO!! Lisa is a very dear friend to me and she is 38 weeks pregnant with a beautiful little girl. Cannot wait to meet her!! Our babies are going to best friends!!

A dear friend from high school, Maya, came by and gave me some smiles! And brought me some premie clothes for our boys from a mutual friend of ours. It was so good to catch up and laugh!!!

My dear friends from church, Mariah and Denee, came to visit me, as well. It was SO GOOD!!! Mariah even paired all our unmatched socks. I hate to admit it, but Ry and I became accustomed to matching a lot of our unmatched socks. Haha It’s the little things!! It was such a blessing to share time together!!!

My sweet Angela also came to spend some time with me. She has such a beautiful heart. So enjoyed sharing stories and catching up. I am blessed!!!

My belly is an instant table these days. For 4th of July we had a small BBQ with my family. They set me up so I could sit or lay at the table with everyone. And it was so nice to be outdoors.

Thank you so much for your continued love and prayers!!! Really touches our hearts so deeply. Our babies are strong little ones and I know God is with us each and every day. We are so blessed by your love and we are so honored to share this special journey with you. Thank you for showering our hearts in love and prayers! The Fortin Triplets are little angels and destined for great things!

  1. Hi Desiree. We don’t know each other but I’ve been stalking (I mean) following your blog for the past several weeks. My husband and I struggled with infertility and miscarriage for four years before finding out in December that we are pregnant with our miracle baby. I had an emergency Cerclage placed at 21 weeks and have been on bed rest ever since. I will be 34 weeks tomorrow and my cervix has been holding at 1.4cm for about a month after lengthening and then shortening again. I honestly didn’t think I would make it this far. Bed rest is definitely one of the hardest things I’ve experienced, but God has graciously given me the strength to make it through each day, and I know it will all be worth it when we meet our little boy in just a few short weeks. Just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone.
P.S. A shower chair is a beautiful thing.
