Bed Rest Bound

I had a regular routine appointment yesterday, which turned into a bit of an emotional day.  Unfortunately, my cervix shrunk to a 2.6. Because of the drop, I was sent to labor and delivery to be monitored. Just hearing the words labor and delivery at 26 weeks pregnant had me in tears.  My Doctor was so sweet in assuring me that this was something we just needed to do to make sure the babies were safe and see if their was anything else going on.  My Mom was there with me, thank God, and Ryan was on his way. I was taken up to the 4th floor by wheel chair and sent to a triage room where they set up monitors around my belly to monitor the babies heart rates. All three babies did fabulous. We did, however, learn that I was having contractions, which kind of blew my mind because I couldn’t even feel them.  It scared me and had me kind of worried. However, with my cervix shrinking it made perfect sense.

What I experienced yesterday is considered normal for a triplet pregnancy, but we obviously, want to steer clear from labor and delivery as long as we can. So now, moving forward, I am officially on bed rest. I need to pay close attention to any contractions I may experience at home and let my body rest. I am allowed to get up to use the restroom, make meals, shower, and maybe even go for a dip in the pool, but no more outings or for this Mama.

It is also possible that with bed rest my cervix may actually lengthen, which would be awesome!!! So I am hoping it will grow because that will help me carry our little ones to 35 weeks.

Thank you for  your ongoing love and prayers. Means so much!!! I know God has us and will see us through. One day at a time.
